Nagpur Bank Robber Uses Chilli Powder, Caught in 30 Minutes With Full Loot

A Nagpur bank robbery ended within 30 minutes after Suraj Bhojraj Borkar allegedly attacked SBI employees with chilli powder and fled with ₹4.53 lakh before police caught him nearby with the full loot.

A bank robbery at the State Bank of India branch in Sakkardara, Nagpur, ended within 30 minutes after police arrested the accused with the entire stolen amount. The incident took place around 5:30-6 p.m. on September 10, when 28-year-old Suraj Bhojraj Borkar allegedly posed as a customer before attacking bank employees with red chilli powder and fleeing with ₹4.53 lakh.

Borkar entered the SBI branch in Sakkardara pretending to be a customer. He then used red chilli powder carried in a plastic bag, blinding employees at the branch before escaping with the cash.

Police from Sakkardara station immediately reviewed CCTV footage from the bank and set up checkpoints in the area to trace the suspect. Their efforts led to Borkar being apprehended just a kilometre away from the branch within 30 minutes of the robbery.

Police recovered the entire ₹4.53 lakh stolen from the bank. Officials confirmed that Borkar acted alone in the robbery.

The swift arrest and complete recovery of the stolen cash drew praise, while the incident also prompted discussion about the need for better bank security during cash handling. The investigation remains focused on the circumstances surrounding the robbery and the accused's actions.
